Need Help With Coconut Cake !

hi all.

i am making a coconut cake right now from a recipe that i read in this thread.

Coconut Cake Recipe:

4 egg whites
¼ teaspoon cream of tartar
1 ½ cups sugar
4 ½ tablespoons corn starch
1 ½ cups all purpose flour
1 cup cake flour
3 ½ baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cups vegetable oil
¾ cups coconut milk*
½ teaspoon vanilla extract
3 teaspoon coconut extract
½ teaspoon lemon juice

Whip egg whites and cream of tartar to stiff peaks. Add sugar to egg mixture. Set aside. Sift corn starch, flours, baking powder and salt in large bowl. Mix in oil, milk, extracts and lemon juice until batter is smooth. Fold in egg white mixture - use your hands, not a kitchen aid! Bake at 350 degrees for 20-30 minuets for an 8'' round. This is a very soft cake.

*Check the ingredients on the back of the can. Make sure it is real coconut milk, not water flavored with coconut. It won't bake correctly if it's not the real stuff.

my batter is too dry (thats before folding in the whites ). like cookie dough. should i add more liquid / milk .
badly need help with this icon_sad.gif

No, don't add any liquid. It will be fine after you fold in the egg whites. I made this for the first time the other day. I made 2 separate batches and both times the cake turned out great.
