I'm making a cake that looks like a monkey sitting on top of a pile of bananas. I want to make a couple peels to lay like the monkey threw them over his shoulder when he was done eatng the banana. Any suggestions? I tried to just cut it out of fondant but couldn't get the shape right. Thought about making strips and trying to arrange them but that didn't come out right. My next attempt will to be to cover a real banana in plastic wrap then in fondant and cut the fondant away from the banana to get the peel shell.

Thanks!
Dia

Of course, my bananas were pretty small, about 1 inch--but what I did was to form the "banana" out of yellow gp/fondant first, paint it with a speck or two of dark green & brown for the "spotting" on the peel.

Then, I just sliced about 1/2 way down into four little sections and placed them about the cake. It looked great!
