AI've made my last three birthday cakes, and it sure beats going to the grocer!
That's the way it's always been - you invite people over for a birthday party, you bake a cake. So this must be a cultural thing, if that's frowned upon in some places!

haha I had the same replies after I told people I was making my own birthday cake. someone bought me another cake to make me feel better....I just love making cakes though
