I am wondering if you can use both Fat Daddio and Magic Line within the same cake? I already have some Magic Line pans in 10", 8", and 6" in. I am in need of a 4" and a 12" pan to add to what I already have. Has anyone here actually used both brands within the same cake? I was thinking the edge where the bottom meets the sides would be slightly different, but I am not sure. The pans in question are rounds.

If I am understanding you correctly you have FD & ML pans in various sizes and want to use the combination of them to provide all the sizes you need for a tiered cake? If so, you will be fine.

FD pans seem to require a longer cooktime at a lower temperatue but other then that, no problem. If you had two 12" pans, 1 FD and the other ML, I would advise against stacking since different brands, even when they are supposed to be the same size, differ slightly.
