Ok so, I am practicing some new techniques but, did not want to make a cake so I got some dummy cakes. I prep. the fondant but, i don't want to go through the hassle or the expense of making buttercream. any suggestions on what can I use to cover the base before applying fondant? Would a jelly or water work? Thank CC for all your help.

I have heard that piping gel also works. Good luck!

I covered Styrofoam and just misted it with water before covering and it stuck fine.

Thank you girls for answering me. I sprayed some water on it and it stuck very well. The dummy came out fine!

Thanks,
