I am looking to make a modern, trendy black and white cake for my friends birthday. I want to try my hand at stenciling. I have never done this. I am overwhelmed!! How tough is it? Can you stencil onto BC or do you have to use Fondant? How do you actually do the stencil itself? Where do you find these stencils?? So many questions!!! Thanks for your help ladies
There are some really nice ones at places like Michael's and Hobby Lobby etc.
You can stencil onto BC if it is a crusting recipe.
You just hold the stencil against the cake and smear more BC over it, lift away.

If you want to do a little practicing before the real thing try stenciling directly onto the sides of the pan. It will help you get the feel of it!
