How Thin Or Thick......????

I'm using fondant for the first time and need to know how thin or thick I should roll it out to cover my cake layers.

No thicker than 1/4". If it's your first time, I'd plan on going thicker (like right at 1/4") rather than thinner. It will be easier.

I bought the wilton rolling pin guide rings and they say the gold rings are for 3/16, the orange rings are for 1/8, and the blue ones are for 1/16. Which one should I use?
