How Long Can I Keep Buttercream?

I have a bowl of buttercream made using Sugarshack's recipe that was in the freezer for a couple of months then I took it out in December to use some on a cake. I put it in the fridge and I'm wondering if it is still good? It smells fine and I tasted a little taste of it and it tasted fine.....do you think it's still ok?
