This is kind of "local" news for me (well, when I lived down that way). None of the articles indicate a reason at this point. If anyone was following it before, someone with a similar name to the husband/father (same first initial, same last name, same area) began getting hate mail and threats. There were comments being made today about how awful it is for authorities to take the children away just because of their names; but that was never stated and I highly doubt that was the case.

Anyway, without having any articles/authorities stating a cause, I'm sure we could all guess a thousand reasons and we could all be wrong. I would believe, however, that there is a good reason. I think it's sad for the children to be taken away. It must be scary for them.

This is not far from me. They had a social services worker saying that the names themselves caused a risk of threats. The social worker also said they have not had any reports or complaints on the kids not being taken care of or abused in the past.

I read another article that had some statistics on low income children with unpopular names having a higher incidence of going to jail as adults. Kind of interesting.
