After hitting dead end after dead end, I finally have some potentially good news! I've been trying to find a place to rent for a long time now that is affordable and close to where I live. I've been turned down so many times I lost count! Anyways, I just got off the phone with an administrator at a local church that just build a huge addition on to the church 2 yrs ago. Included in that addition was a HUGE commercial kitchen with all new state of the art equipment. I am meeting him later today for a tour and he is seriously thinking of renting it out to me!! Normally they only let members only use it for special occassions. I am not a member at that particular church though, so at first he wasn't too sure. However, the more I talked to him, the more open to the idea he seemed. I am so excited!! He's meeting with the board next Tues. (Jan. 20th) and is going to run the idea past them. He's already talking about how neat it would be to have an in-house cake decorator though for the weddings that they do there. There has to be a good sign I would think! Please send me good thoughts and prayers!!

hope this works out for you!! I have thought of trying this arrangement with a church in my town, just haven't built up enough courage to ask. Also thanks for the templates on cutting serving sizes, the round one will be a big help to me. Good luck!

Hope it all works out for you, sounds like it would be a great arrangement. If he thinks the board might be on the fence, maybe send them a sample to enjoy at their meeting.

NCmomof3boys thanks for the idea! I didn't even think of that - duh!! I was going to drop off my portfolio album so they could get an idea of the cakes I've made. I'll do both.

Glad to help. I'm betting if they get a taste of what you make, they'll be more likely to allow the rental in hopes you'll have some more goodies to send their way. Maybe they'll even place an order with you for their meetings. Let us know how it works out.

I think making a cake or some sample cupcakes is a great idea!
Fingers crossed for you.
