Hello Everyone,
My name is Ashley and this is my first day joining Cake Central. I have a passion for culinary and never had the chance to pursue it until now.

I am starting from scratch so any info or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I would like to make my first fondant cake but don't know how to start.

What would I need to make the cake from scratch?
What would I use and how would I color the fondant?
Should I buy pre made fondant or should i make it myself?
Should I buy my cake mix from a box?

Please if anyone can send me a simple recipe on how to make the cake, ice it and then the technique on how to apply fondant and also what tools should I use.

I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!

ALSO IF ANYONE IS IN THE NY AREA AND OWNS A CAKE SHOP IS THERE ANYWAY I CAN INTERN AND GET TO KNOW THA BASICS OF THE INDUSTRY.

THANKS
ASHLEY

Hi Ashley, welcome to CC and congrads on your first post.

First, to make the cake, you can bake from scrach, or you can use cake mixes. It is oyur preference.

Here is a basic yellow cake recipe,

And here is link the tools you need and other useful tips,

Once the cake cooled, torte ( slice ) it and put a filling that you like. This is how you do it.

And I would leave the cake which is filled to settle for a while. Make sure you wrap it with saran wrap, so it doesn't dry.

This is how you cover the cake with fondant.

I got all these links from Wilton site. So if you want to browse more, here the link for the home page,
