Did you make the cake yet?

There is a baseball glove cake in my photos. It was made with a round cake and I carved only small amounts off between the thumb and forefinger, small triangles between each finger, and then tapered it off towards the wrist. I also hollowed out the palm area. Mine is all buttercream except the webbing and the lacing. Those are fondant.

I made mine from 1 ten inch cake, but I cut it up. I just looked at my son's mitt, how it laid and put the chunks of cake where they needed to be. For the leather look, I started with light brown fondant, then sponged darker brown on it and blended well.
