I need to make gingerbread cookies, and the recipe I'm using spreads during baking. My gingerbread men, come out looking more like snowmen. Does anyone have a recipe that will hold it's form well during baking? Thanks.

I'm an advocate for Peggy Porschen's recipe! It is really tasty and holds it's shape very well. I have a gingerbread man picture in my pix that was made with this recipe. Here is a thread with the entire recipe posted about halfway down...

wish i could help you but the ones I just finished did the same thing. I even had the dough chilled. could try freezing after you cut the cookies, this helps with sugar cookies. wish I had thought about while I was doing mine, but mine are for family only.

I have always used the one in the Wilton yearbooks. It's the grandma's gingerbread cookie recipe. I love it. It doesnt spread. I always use it for my cookies and my houses.
