I have a cookie recipe that calls for amaretto liquer - where can I buy that? (I haven't seen it @ the grocery stores or craft stores). Would it be a liquor store, or online, etc?
You get them at the liquor store. I don't think grocery stores are allowed to carry liquor.
Yep, liquor stores only. If you don't need alot, you might be able to find the airplane/mini-sized bottles.
It depends on where you live. In CA it's in the grocery too. Amaretto is nice. There are often generic brands of same thing. You can make some homemade liqueurs with vodka, etc. but they take time to age...
Thanks for the responses, I'll have to hit the liquor stores. How much do they run, price wise? And do they keep like forever (like some liquors) or do they get rancid after awhile? sorry for all the questions, this is out of my league!
They keep indefinitely. I would get a generic brand for baking. Bailey's Irish cream should be kept in fridge after opening....
Can I just vent that we moved to Indonesia in July and I CANNOT find liquers ANYWHERE! No Cherry Brandy, No Cointreau, Amaretto, Baileys, Kahlua, and on and on and on. No Malibu, No Rum. I wanna tear my hair out!
If I want spirits I have to wait for DH to travel overseas so he can buy from abroad. I could also queue up at a specialist store that only sells liquor from 9am-10am, with a maximum sales limit of 500 bottles total sale & 2 bottles per customer.
I miss the days when I could get ANYTHING I want from the grocery store or just around the corner.
Thanks for letting me rant
Hey, Mom... Do they have bars or night clubs over there ? They might sell you a bottle of what ever you need.....
I have recipes for homemade liqueurs using vodka +.... Mom of 4 boys... Let me know if you want any...
