Am I imagining this...or did I learn somewhere that buttercream breaks down fondant?
I have a cake to ice (buttercream) and decorate (fondant snowmen) and I was thinking I couldn't finish until just before pick up, bc the icing might breakdown the snowmen.
Can I make it now? pick up is around 4:30...or should I just wait to put the snowmen on before she comes?
ps. then I keep thinking of Duff making all those cakes in fondant and leaving them sit for days....
I think you're thinking of royal icing. No grease should come in contact with it because it can break down. But buttercream and fondant are fine to use together.
