Hey y'all. I've got my first paid order this weekend! Luckily for me, it's for cupcakes, which I can do pretty well (it's the actual cakes I struggle with).

Question: I'm decorating the cupcakes to make them Christmas-y. I was going to make some gumpaste holly-and-leaves to stick on them, but now I'm wondering if making them out of buttercream would be better?

Could I just make them the day before, let them dry out and then use them? Or would gumpaste still be better?

Thanks!

I usually make them out of fondant, gumpaste/fondate, or gumpaste. The fondant never really hardens but if it is just to sit on top of a cupcake, shouldn't be a problem. I like the 50/50 blend. Firm yet workable.

I also use a 50/50 of gumpaste and fondant. It holds together better than just bc. Though I honestly have never used just bc to make something like that.

Thanks, guys.
Yeah, I'm thinking gumpaste. BC just popped into my head because I don't have any gumpaste. So I'm off to Michael's!
