I made these for years, and had great success with my cookie press...however we are now living in our Motorhome and I had to downsize. The cookie press didn't make the cut and is now prolly happliy making cookies in Springfield, IL for some lucky baker. How do I make spritz cookies without a cookie press? Thought maybe piping the dough through a large star tip? I really miss my cookies at Christmas.

PS...I have spent so much money on caking supplies since being bitten by this bug, hubby says no more purchases for a while...I would just go buy one, but I need to keep peace in our 300 sq foot home.

I am afraid the thick dough would rupture the icing bags- you need more force with dough than icing. I have lost the press (AFTER the dough was made) and just made a log of it--- and did slice and bake. Same tasty cookie, but no shape.
