i've attached a picture of an instrument (nerdy science cake!) that i want to make. i could make it with the door closed but i would rather have the door open but am not sure how i would do that. any ideas? how can i attach a door and what would i make it out of?
im going to make pound cake and cover it with fondant.

Is the cake going to stand up off the table as shown?
If not you can use gp or cookies for the door and just ice it to the cake.

the cake is going to sit on the bottom. what is gp? icon_biggrin.gif
and if i ice it to the cake, will it stay? even if i have to transport it?

I think I would just use a piece of cardboard or foam covered with fondant and maybe use dowels to attach to the cake at the corners. You could use a box top also if it wasn't really heavy. HTH icon_biggrin.gif
