Hugs to you my dear. I am so sorry this happened to you. I would press charges on her. This was not a simple bump with a basket. She punched you in the face. Sorry no....I would make sure she felt the weight of the consequences of her actions. Thank God she didn't hurt you seriously but if she is not made to back up and take stock of herself she might seriously hurt someone else.

She sounds like she has got a screw loose but there are lots of those kinds running around...and reproducing too. icon_twisted.gif

I'm glad your 16 y. o. thinks it's GROSS!!!! My 10 yr old is starting to ask. UGH!!!

This is acutally funny, b/c I was at Michael's yesterday and some B**** was SUPER nasty to the store manager because some bristol board was put in the wrong spot, and so the tag read that it cost less than it actually did, and BOY did she ever get her knickers in a bunch. I felt so badly for the manager that when it was my turn at the till I said "Boy, must be a rough day." So then we went on to plesantries, and she actually thanked me for the kind words. So many people are so mean... That's why I say "I hate people."

So sorry to hear this happened to you. I am not surprised though, kids today have no respect for others and treat adults as equals. You sound as if you were in control and that's great you kept your wits about you. I am just surprised that nobody from Michaels stepped in to separate her from you. She should have been escorted from the store immediately and the police called. You should not have had to do it.

I think you should definitely press charges. Do not let her get away with doing this and possibly doing it again to someone else. Failed engagement/wedding or not, the light will come on when the pain goes away that he was not worthy of her, meanwhile she cannot act like a crazed maniac when she is told she is being rude and asked to stop. She needs some meds and an intervention.

Society is getting scary. This is the exact reason why I have my kids in karate. They will have the ability to defend themselves whenever they cannot walk away.

You should press charges. That was aweful. She will probably plea it down to a slap on the wrist and probation anyway. Then, at least if she does it to someone else in the future there will be a record of her behavior for the cops to look at. If you don't she'll walk around looking as clean as a whistle til she assaults the next poor unsuspecting soul. Don't let her get away with it.

I am sorry this happened to you. I agree with everyone about some type of action being taken against her. At minimum she needs some type of counseling. To react in such a violent way was completely inappropriate.

Would it have made a difference if the victim was African American and gotten hit in the face by a blonde woman? no. so why ask?

People are under soo much stress now that its sad someone had to get hurt to hopefully make this person see that she needs help.

I agree that you should press charges. I am 25 years and old and have always been laid back and kept my mouth shut in these kind of situations. I have been in a somewhat simular situation where the girl threatened to kill me for looking at her the wrong way, I lived in total terror for weeks. She then got into a fight with someone else. Granted if I had went and did something about it to begin with the other person would not have been hurt. Lesson learned that it isn't always best to just stand back. She needs to learn a lesson. Press the charges so at least she knows she can't always get by with it. If she did it to you just imagine what the next person got that she "ran" into. Glad to here you are okay and don't let her keep you from Michaels, then she still wins out kinda. God Bless and pray for her.

Some people are just plain weird. Young, old, black, white or this case blond- they are all capable of bizzarre behavior. Many years ago I had an old woman- 70's- slam a shopping cart into my back repeatedly and start screaming that I had tried to run over her coming into the parking lot. The manager removed her from the store and checked to make sure I was OK. To this day I have no idea what was going on in her brain.

However, in the case of the young woman it might be a good idea to press charges. She should not be allowed to think she can vent her spleen on strangers with impunity. Her ex -fiancee sounds like he woke up just in time.

How pathetic, it is a shame that someone come on here to share a sad experience with you all and a simple question based on curiosity can just flip the whole purpose of this post. Whatever race she was, whatever race you are and whatever race issue you are flying high with is not my business. I asked a question and I got an answer. Thats it!! You all are too dramatic and narrow-minded. Let it rest. You all are reading too much into things. Take the statement for what it is and not what you want it to mean. I never thought in 2008 asking a question like that was forbidden. Look at the real issue of the post. A fellow human being was innocently attacked/ ill-treated. Not the statement or question I asked.

You are right. It is a shame that a sad story had to turn into a racial question because you were just curious. I thought in 2008 those questions did not have to be asked.

Silly me.

If you wanted to fill your curiosity, why not ask what was her nationality?

That justifies the American Educational system:
1. English is your natural language and still a foreign language to you.
2. Nationality would not answer my question.

I suggest you all develop social skills - if you had any, my question would be a question and not an issue.

I suggest you do do some INTERNATIONAL travelling, cause it seem that you are sadly trapped in a prison with some high high walls. You all need to think independently cause, my statement is not offensive and you know it. You all need to floss that tartar out of your brains and think clearly.
My educational level is too advanced for your comprehension, and, my social skills are way beyond yours. Clearly, this chat room/ community is not the place for me on any level.

You all need to wake up and smell the batter - It is 2008!!
Peace out CC.

What's pathetic is that you even wondered about something like this. No matter how you protest there's only one reason someone would wonder something like this as far as I can tell.

YOU are the person who turned this into something else, the rest of us are justly outraged by race being brought into this.

I got sidetracked in my first response. Let me say that I am so sorry that this happened to you. Whether I felt like I was really hurt or not, I would have made the police officer take a report. I would have followed up with assault charges and a lawsuit. No one has a right to hit you and "mess up" your glasses.

I would have handled the whole thing differently though. The first time that she hit me, I would have dismissed it. The second time that she hit me, "I would have kicked her a--." I know that is not the proper way to handle things, but I am tired of being overrun with idiots everywhere I go.

I've kept quiet long enough.

When the world around you is wrong then maybe just maybe the world is right and you aren't.

You crossed a line. To bring race into the situation was flat out uncalled for. Seriously does it matter? If her skin was any shade of brown, peach, yellow, purple or green it doesn't matter.

You brought race into it and now you have to deal with the backlash.

If you honestly feel we are all an ignorant and close minded group and want to go then I say good bye and don't let the door hit you while carrying a cake on the way out.

For the original poster,

I am so sorry to hear you had to go through this. It's very traumatic. How are you doing now? Feeling any better?

To the poster asking about the employees breaking it up... at my Michael's I teach at about 90% of the kids working are young girls no older than 19. Most of them would have gone into a panic or themselves would have had the tar beaten out of them, or flat out wouldn't have known what to do. I can think of only 4 of us who would know how to break it up and be willing to get into the middle of of a potential brawl (even if it's a one sided fight). Michael's doesn't have anything in their training video's on how to react to these situations or if we as employees are even allowed to step in.

I haven't heard of anything happening at our store (yet). I'm curious as to what state this happened in only because I'm a Michael's employee and I'd be shocked if this was in our area.

hello all been out shopping at hobby lobby today icon_smile.gif , Thank you to everyone for asking if im ok. Yes Im fine slept like a baby last night. woke up feeling refresh and happy this morning. Headed out to do shopping. My husband still wanted to go into the store with me he is still worried about me. But im fine. It was at a store in Ms. Most of the ppl that i encounter at michaels or most of the crafting stores are really nice and polite she just had a chip on her shoulder and the 1st person who said something to her she was ready to go off. and it was my lucky day i guess. I got my glasses fixed this morning they were still covered under my insurance so no problem there. I would just like to say that i love CC and all its members you are all so nice and very sweet and helpful whenever anyone needs you. Thank you HUGS!!!
