My 8 yr old is getting a bow and arrow for his bday and I want to make a cake around that theme. I want to make a simple 14" round cake with a target with an arrow stuck in the bullseye.
Would you make it with BC? (Will it be red enough?)
or
MMF ( will it be red enough)
or
bought fondant (it would have to be wilton since its too late to order anything else).
Im thinking the arrow could be a dowel covered in fondant with fondant 'feathers'.
Any words of wisdom?
I did a target cake for my cousins b-day one year, it is in my pics. I took the pan and did a cutout for the same size circle then I did smaller circles. I did fondant for the very top only and used the cut outs as guides for the different colors and then I painted with color then out lined with black at the end. The arrow is also done with fondant but make sure you let it set up because it will break very easy ( I made six and I think 4 ended up breaking on me). The only way I think you could do it with bc is if you did a FBCT. If you have any questions let me know
JJ,we have covered them at times and other times just scrape off salt and airbrushed the color needed for the effect we needed. They are approx 12" long.and they are edible,a plus in some contests.Have also used them instead of wooden dowels to hold, say a head on a carved bear, frog, etc. Post a pic when done. good luck, Derrell
