I'm going to be making the WASC cake recipe from this site, for the first time and I just realized that the recipe says to cook @325 but does not say for how long. Please help! I'm going to have to start the cake in the next hour or so.

when you smell the cake it will be done, or almost done. Use a tooth pick in the center of the cake to be sure. You want it to come out almost clean, meaning a few crumbs on the pick are okay. For a 8x8 cake I usually don't even check it for 20 minutes, then depending on what the tooth pick looks like will depend on when I check my cake again.

Yes, yes use your nose!
A general guideline: about 20-30 minutes for 10" rounds or a 9x13 sheet. Around 75-90 minutes for a 16" sq.

Thank you thank you thank you. This is my first "real" cake. I've always just iced cakes, but tomorrow I'm decorating my first cake. I'm totally nervous.
