Supports In Top Teir For Cake Topper?

Do I need to add dowels to my top tier to support a big cake topper and fondant animal?
The cake topper is a 8" tall wood (armature), fondant and rkt tree w/ a fondant monkey on top and there will also be a fondant lion on the teir. Is that too much weight for a 6"?
