Hello everyone!

I am sorry if this has been posted before but I am making Indydebi's buttercream and want to make a chocolate version of it. I have some Ghiradelli premium baking cocoa (sweet ground chocolate) and am wondering if I can use this to make chocolate buttercream? If so, how much would I add and has anyone used this brand before? Thanks for any help.

When making chocolate icing I use my basic buttercream recipe and add chocolate to it. If you are using cocoa powder I would start with atleast 1/2 cup but depending on the color and taste you want you may need to add more. The only difference to my orginal recipes is that I find the chocolate buttercream needs a little more liqiud. I wait to add the extra liquid until after I have it all mixed up so I can get the consistany that I want.

Thank you for your reply! I made it using the powder and it came out kind of gritty. It isnt terrible but not as smooth as BC without it. Maybe I need to experiment with real chocolate next time.
