I'm freezing a cake to decorate on Tuesday. Should I slice the layers for filling before I freeze them or do I wait and slice them after I take them out of the freezer.

I think it's much easier to cut them before freezing.

I have done it both ways. if your cake is cooled it won't hurt it to preslice then just place a disk of parchment paper between the layers before you freeze it. Just make sure you place a piece of tooth pick on each layer so you know how to layer it back together.

I torte prior to freezing. Always have. You can go on and put the filling on with the layers frozen, stack and wrap them and let them defrost/settle.
