I am going to try using gumpaste for the first time.I am just wondering if most people buy it premade or make their own?

I tried gumpaste for the first time by buying the can that Wilton has--basically you add water and a little P. sugar to the mix. It's a great way to begin. I hear that Nicholas Lodge's recipe is wonderful for gumpaste and I will try that someday soon! So far I've made GP roses, bows, leaves etc....I always keep some of the Wilton GP mix on hand (I use the 40% off coupon at HL).

I buy the dry CK gumpaste mix and keep it on hand all the time. I like being able to mix up just what I need.

I use the CK mix also. Any of the pre-made gumpaste has extenders in it so it has alonger shelf life. It doesn't set up or dry like the gumpaste you make from a mix!!! Hope that helps and welcome to the world of gumpaste!!! thumbs_up.gif
