What should I use to get my chocolate icing nice and dark like this cake? Everytime I add cocoa powder, it just turns a nice light brown, not rich and dark like I see on other cakes. I will actually be coloring this black, but would like to use as little black coloring as possible so everyone isn't walking around with stained teeth and tongues! icon_lol.gif

Thanks in advance!!!

Try using melted dark chocolate instead of the cocoa powder.

I usually just add a ton of cocoa powder to my bc and then add more milk to reach the consistency I need- it usually turns out pretty dark. I think it's usually around 1 cup to 3 cups of bc.

It is hard to find but you could use black cocoa. Basically the cocoa used to make oreo cookies.

I have had really good luck with the Hersheys special dark cocoa powder, the regular just comes up tanish, but the dark really makes a difference. I have also melted the dark choclate as well

If you like the taste of your chocolate, just add brown color to it.
