So sometimes Im in a bit of a rush, I guess a 4 year old can do that and I whip up a boxed cake mix for a family gathering or a family dinner. They get a bit boring. I was wondering if any one had any recipes or secrets in doctoring up a boxed mix?

With the butter cake mix, I add some cinnamon and chocolate chips...tastes like a cookie! OR you can substitute a flavored coffee creamer of your choice for the water to change the flavor as well. HTH

I use a box mix, add 4 eggs, 1 package of jello pudding mix, 1/2 cup of veg. oil and 1 cup of water. Turns out so moist and everyone seems to enjoy it.

I have the Cake Mix Doctor book. That thing is amazing. I especially like the carrot cake in there.

I use a box mix, 4 eggs, 1 cup liquid (sometimes water, sometimes flavored coffee creamer) and a packet of Dream Whip

Invest in the cake dr book. You can buy it on amazon. This is a great book with lots and lots of recipes for cakes using boxed cake mix. The cake dr also has a book for chocolate cake and cupcakes. It is worth the money.

I have done several things with it but my favorite and my kids love it too is using white cake mix add 2 tbs of coconut extract, 2/3 cup shredded coconut flakes. For filling use pina colada filling and icing it in coconut buttercream it is sooo good. But I'm sure their are better variations, this just happens to be 1 of my favorites.
