I'm applying an edible image to rolled buttercream and also to white chocolate. when is the best way to do this? When it's fresh and warm, or when it has cooled?

Any tips and trips are appreciated!
thanks

Thanks kimmy. Anyone else use rolled buttercream on cookies or white chocolate on strawberries for their edible images?
