I just got an order to mould a mickey mouse out of gum paste. I do not have any mould to do this. This means i have to do it free hand. Can anyone give me suggestions on how to go about it? Thank you.

can't really help, but I "google" things like molded mickey, or making mickey out of clay....

I made a Minnie Mouse out of gum paste for my niece's birthday a few months ago. I didn't have a mold either, but used my daughter's Minnie Mouse stuffed animal as a model. You could also look at a small figurine to get ideas. Here is a picture of my finished product:

Another idea that could accompany the Mickey themed cake is to decorate cupcakes with oreos. It's really easy and cute! Here is a picture of the cupcakes that I did (they were inspired by another CC'er):
