I am ready to take the plunge!

So, is it a 750ml bottle of vodka with 12 beans? Is that the ratio? I want it good but I don't want to waste beans.

What combination are you using?

TIA! icon_smile.gif

I use 750ml bottle and add about 20 Grade B vanilla beans, split and scraped before adding to the vodka, then steeped for a minimum of 6 weeks.

For a 750ml bottle I use 4 vanilla beans. Cut 2 beans lengthwise and put them in the vodka. Shake the bottle every day for 1 month, then remove the 1st 2 vanilla beans, cut 2 new ones and put those in the vodka. Shake it every day for another month, and it will be ready to use.

ooooh I have about 40 beans sitting and waiting for me to make my vanilla - I know there is a thread on vanilla somewhere on here - maybe Jan "Queen of the Links" will read this and supply the links for us? LOL! icon_biggrin.gif
