My daughter just informs me she needs a cake for school tomorrow. All I have is a white cake mix. Can anyone tell me how to change a white cake mix into a great tasting chocolate cake? What do I need to add? Thank You for any advice. icon_smile.gif

Do you have any Unsweet cocoa powder? OR candy melts? or better yet both?
Add about 1/2 cup cocoa and 4 oz melted choco melts plus a big pinch of baking soda.

Thank you...looks like I'll try the cocoa powder trick. Either that or is there something else I can add to it to make it tastier...white cake is so blah to me......any ideas there?

I have had to do this before as well. Add the cocoa powder to the mix and some chocolate chips to it. Good luck!

Does it have to be to chocolate? I'd think it would be easier to go to a fruit flavor such as adding strawberry, or since it's for kids, maybe a strawberry cake with chocolate bits? I could see them liking that....

Or...Keep the white cake, enhance it with Vanilla coconut creamer (for coffees?) and just torte it with pretty fillings such as Lemon and Raspberry?

I love white cake. Why not just frost it with chocolate icing?

Add a box of dry pudding mix to your cake mix while your mixing it. You can add any flavor you want to a white cake mix. It also helps add moisture & better texture to your cake. I do this to all my cakes, even if the box says it alread contains pudding in the mix.
