Hi everyone, this was my first practice cake - chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream crumb coating and homemade fondant icing with fondant accents. Very proud!! it turned out much better than expected - the roses turned out nice and the bow, well i learnt from my mistakes and i know it will be better next time!

Thanks everyone! the fondant was actually gelatine sugarpaste rather than MMF. it tastes lovely and is so easy to work with, tint and mould. im pretty pleased with my first attempt though im my worst critic! im dying to try a tiffany style 2 tier gift box cake now - hopefull il be able to stack them!

no, no class, just did it out of a book and from pics on this site. il post the malteser cake recipe it was yummy!!

Cathy, you did a GREAT Job on your cakes. All of them are pretty, but I liked the one with the roses the most. And you sure have some inspiration in you Good luck with your 2 tier gift box.. ..can't wait to see that one. by the way, where did you get the recipe for the gelatine surgarpaste, I think i'd like to try it.
