I bought a 40 something year old mold for mini Madeleines.
Its french and of good quality.
however there are a few spots of rust here and there.
I havent used it yet for fear that it would transfer to the cake.
anyone have any tips for cleaning old tin molds??
Okay I just did a little search on this and found 2 ways
a potato and detergent
or scrub with vinegar and salt mixed together!
There are a couple of ways depending on how deep the rust is. Have you tried the green scrubby pads? I would start there. You could maybe throw in some soft scrub. If that doesn't do it your going to have to go to a sandpaper. I would start with a 320 wet/dry paper keeping it wet.
I will give it a go this weekend.
Hopefully its just surface nicks and nothing serious.
