I am going to do a 'pizza cake' for a retiremtn next month and the recipe calls for grated marzipan to look like chesse, however the recipient, I've just discovered, doesn't like marzipan! Can I colour fondant yellow then chill in fridge and grate or does it go off? Is there anything else I could use?
ps, also about to attempt my first ' not for family' cake, my neighbours 40th birthday! eek, quite worried but excited, will post pictures once I do it, fingers crossed for the next couple of days!!!!
well yellow fondant wont have the same texture as marzipan
but if its supposed to look like cheese i dont see why not.
you could probably keep the fondant really cold before you grate it and it should give you good 'grated cheese'
