I just did my first real wedding cake for a friend's wedding, and although the finished product looked good, putting the cakes together was just a pain because they were cracking pretty bad. I used betty crocker cake mix and put simple syrup all over them, but when i picked them up to move they were all cracking even though they were super moist. Any suggestions???
each tier should be assembled and soaked while on its own cake circle. You won't have to pick up a plain layer to move it, this allowing it to crack.
Could you have used to much syrup. Moving layers soaked in syrup spells disaster to me.
