Hi! I spent last evening covering 40 Oreos with Wilton candy melts for my son's preschool party. His preschool is a peanut-free zone.
I brought a bag of the candy melts into his school and the teachers looked it over and said it would be fine. This morning, just to be sure, i called Wilton and was told the candy melts are produced on segregated lines that are kept clean, but in a facility that also processes peanuts (they are not labeled as such).
What do I do? Our familt doesn't have any allergies, and I don't want to risk a child's health.
Does anyone know if they are safe?

Some people who are severely allergic to peanuts can have a reaction just handling something made in the same room where peanuts are kept. Last month I had a student who had two children who had nut allergies. She was told not to use the Wilton products by someone at Wilton. She did some research and found out that the CK brand is manufactured in a safe nut free environment. HTH
