What's The Biggest Batch Of Bc A 6-Qt Ka Will Handle?

I generally make quadruple batches of BC in my 6-qt KA but just made a 5x batch with plenty of room left in the bowl (5 lbs sugar/5 cups hi-ratio/water/extracts/salt). The mixer wasn't stressed at all (thank you, KitchenAid, for that 575 watt motor!) and handled it with no problems.

Just wondering if anyone's made a batch using 7 lbs of PS. I have to make another big batch in a couple of weeks and will try it then but I was curious as to anyone else's results. icon_smile.gif

I make Sugarshack's BC using 6 1/2 pounds PS in mine. If you make it so that it's completely filled top/bottom and side/side it reduces the amount of air bubbles in your icing. HTH!

Excellent - I will go ahead and do a 6.5 or 7 lb batch then! icon_smile.gif

That's exactly why I was asking - I've made her icing in my 5 qt and my goal is to get the same bubble-free effect in my 6 qt but with using my own icing recipe. Thanks bunches! icon_smile.gif

I've made batches wit h8lbs of sugar, and it fills it to the top. Make sure you mix it slow to start or it'll go everywhere!
