I'm making my first wedding cake next week, when using cake plates, do I need to use the cake boards also? If so, how do I make sure the cake board doesn't slide off the cake plate? I've tried to search and can't find anything.

Thanks so much for your help!

I prefer to use a cardboard cake circle under my cake and on top of my cake plate. That way the cake can be cut without damaging the cake plate. The cake can also more easily be moved to another surface for cutting or to a box for storage. I usually put a square of that non-slip grippy mesh between the cardboard and the cake plate.
