How do I make a rope? I don't have a clay gun. I want to make a rope to go around the base of an 8 inch cake. I also want to use some on the side of the BC cake (but I'm not sure that is going to be able to happen).

On your board, using your palms & spread out fingers, roll out 2 sausages of fondant to the same thickness & length. Keeping them on the board, hold one strand down while wrapping the other strand over & under it.

Not easy to explain, but I hope this helps.

So the rope stretches as you pull it around your hand? Thanks!

No, as you roll the sausage on the board, you keep your fingers spread and roll it from the tips of you fingers to the bottom of your palms where they attach to your wrists. You spread your hands apart as the rope gets longer & longer.
