Maybe I'm just the slow person to think of this, but I just realized that I can use a site like this:

http://translation2.paralink.com/

to help me communicate with other languages here on the board. I used it to PM someone who is Russian (guess I'll find out if it worked, if she responds!) and I just "read" a couple Spanish posts this way too.

The translation isn't perfect but it lets you know what is being said. Just kind of neat, especially if viewing a photo in a language you do not understand.

I also use this one: http://www.freetranslation.com/

You should spot check these once in awhile so see how it translates back. I worked for someone with a last name of "Elder" and they used one of these to translate a letter to another language. To test it, they then translated the German version back into English and it came back with a last name of "Old Man". icon_lol.gif

LOL I do! I did the free registration on the one I listed (with my junk email address) and it then does automatically re-translate back what I write, so I can check it before I use it. I have made several changes before actually copying and pasting what I write! It was cool emailing a Czech member of CC using this translator service though. Really neat.

Don't know if it's still around, b/c I haven't used it in a while, but I used to love Babbelfish (or was it Babblefish?).
