I am making a sleeping beauty cake and she will be laying in a bed the top sheet that will be fondant I have seen with stars hearts etc. How do you do that... I seen a kit to do it sort of but I was looking for a cheap cheap way..

impression mats and patterned rolling pins, etc. are the conventional ways, but heck you can use anything you've got to make an impression... think outside the box. look around your house and look for anything that can be pressed in to make a design.

I was worried if I used anything it might go thru to far..is there maybe a trick or just dont press to hard and that is it??

Actually roll out the dough a tiny bit thicker than you want it, then press the impression mat on.

I remember once a gal used a *screw* to texture her blanket!!

also.. practice! its just fondant.. if it doesn't work, folded up, knead it and try againicon_smile.gif
