I have this cake to do Oct25.It is in the wilton book last yr.The wedding cake in the paisly pans.Here is My problem.She wants roses not those flowers.I am afraid roses will be to heavy to swag like theyre suppose to.What do yall think.My second problem is I cant seem to get the flowers to ruffle around the edges.Help is needed here.She will accept these other flowers IF I cant do rosesPage 74 in last yrs book

I've done rose swags that would be about the same size as those. Just be sure to make your gum paste as thin as you can to help minimize the weight. The middle portion of the swag gets fairly thick as you tape the wires of more and more roses together. Once it's complete, you should be able to bend the whole swag to fit the contours of the cake and make it drape however you want it. You may have to experiment a little to get the right gauge of wire on your roses though.
