I'm doing a retirement/farewell cake for my husband's boss...the office, as a whole, has been designing the cake icon_rolleyes.gif He's moving to Florida, so they want a beach with the couple (in fondant) and palm trees on it. The palm trees, I've got no problem forming out of fondant. It's the people!?!
I've never sculpted fondant people. How do I go about sculpting them with bathing suits on? I'm not that artistic, so they need to be as simple as possible. I've also told them that there will be people if I actually end up making decent looking people and if I don't, then it's just palm trees.
Also, when cutting out fondant without an actually cutter, what have you found to be the best way?
Thanks so much!!!

Go and buy her character tutorial!! Awesome! Best money I ever spent!!!!!!!

as for cutting fondant without a cutter - use a template and a very sharp knife.

Good luck! This sounds like a GREAT cake!!

OH - I just remembered - Debbie Brown has some great cakes with people in bathing suits http://www.debbiebrownscakes.co.uk/ you can look through the books online and then check it out at the library.

Hope that helps!!

Also check out polymer clay books. It is just like fondant. They have some great instructions for figures. Have fun with this. Good Luck!
