I have been asked to make a VW bug. I have looked up in the photo gallery, it looks like most are making with a 3D cruiser. Is that something you can pick up at Michaels or Hobby Lobby? Also, has anyone ever covered in fondant? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

One of the Debbie Brown books has directions for making a bug. Although it also has someone mooning out the window! lol.

Does anybody know which Debbie Brown cake the VW bug is in?
Also, can you carve this cake instead of using a pan, and if so, can somebody help with the instructions on how to carve it? Thank you so much!

The VW is in her "Naughty Cakes" book. It does give directions on carving.

I made one and it was basically my first carved cake. Have a look under my pics. I think I gave directions there too! I was actually impressed how easy it was to get the shape. I do wish I would have done it in fondant!

I made the Wilton Cruiser this past weekend. I made it look like a PT Cruiser Woodie, so I had to carve a bit away and I covered it in fondant. I have to say, it was really pretty easy. I think the pan could be a great start for a VW Bug.

That's a cool pic. I think it would make a good VW bug as well. Goodluck!!
