I did it! My first wedding cake came out perfect! No problems, nothing. It was stressful up until the time I started setting up but then it all came together and I was doing the happy dance. It was for my sister and she loved it. Thanks for all the help I got, I think I asked a milllion questions! I also made the grooms cake. Here they are!

As I said, these cakes were heavily inspired by many of the people on here especially peggylicious, cathyscakes and torysgirl87!! Thanks!

Just one question...I do not sell cakes, I just make them for family and friends so I have no idea what a cake like this would run. Any ideas? It was 12,10,8 with hundreds of gumpaste hydrangeas. Wasc with cream cheese and strawberrry filling. Thanks, I just want to be able to tell all the people who ask me "what would a cake like that cost?"

calebsmom45, you did a fantastic job, the cakes look great! I know your sister is so proud of you....take a bow! I don't know what the pricing should be, I'm like you, family and friends so far....very little money making going on here icon_wink.gif

Thank you so much! It is great when other people tell you they love the cake, but I really appreciate the comments from other decorators the most!

I would charge 302.50 for that size cake covered in fondant with filling, for hydrangeas I'd probably charge about $.50 each

wow, the wedding cake is stunning! and the groom's cake is very cool! you did an excellent job and should most definitely be proud! i would estimate about $280+ for a cake like that. according to my pricing, it would be about $210-$215 for the cake and $40-$50 for the flowers. it looks like fondant, so i would add $10 to each layer.

btw, the pictures of your sister playing her dh's drums are an awesome touch!

Anyone else have any pricing ideas, especially anyone from around Georgia or South Carolina. It just seems like no one I know wants to pay for a cake like this or any other fondant covered cake. I wish they would or I might consider looking in to doing this and not killing myself chasing kids all day but I just do not see how it is worth my time business wise. I appreciate all the comments and help!

Hi,

I would price your Bride's cake at $409.48.

Almond cake - 86 servings x 2.68 = 230.48
Strawberry BCC filling - 86 x .25 = 21.50
Fondant - 86 x 1.25 = 107.50
Gumpaste flowers - 200 x .25 = 50.00
