I live in the DFW area and was thinking of driving up and back on Sat. Is it possible to see everything in one day?

I WAS planning on going with my boss on Sunday (driving from Springfield) but we're not going to be able to go now. I've never been and was REALLY looking forward to it. Oh well, maybe next year. I think you can see everything in one day if you don't mess around too long. From what I here, there's a lot for one day, esspecially if you attend any of the demos. I hope someone posts some pictures so we can see all of the gorgeous cakes!!!

I went to the website and looked around and saw who will be there but it did not give any details as to what day or time (approx.) Will these people and events also be going on on both days?

They have demos everyday day of the show. This is my fourth year competing and it is going to be fabulous! They have some amazing people coming in! Should be an amazing year!

When you go on the web site, there is a button for schedule of events. It tells what times the demos are for both days. It has changed some since Kegan isn't coming. To bad to, he was doing some great stuff. The new guy is doing more chocolate stuff. Could be interesting. I will be there wearing my Proud Navy Mom shirt, would love to meet anyone else. Edna said on another post she was going one day. Hope to meet her, she does such a great job and teaches well too.

How exciting to have been in the competition! Any stories to share? Scariest moment? Did you win? Place? What famous person were you the most excited to see/meet?

Spill the beans!! Enquiring minds want to know!

You are sweet! I have been lucky to place in divisional all years I have been there icon_smile.gif I took a bronze score the first year and certificates of merit the last two years for wedding cake! I have made countless friends and have had a wonderful time doing it! I plan I coming back this year in full force! I am very excited! I was asked by Kerry to judge in the lower divsion and I am so honored to apprentice for her. As far as famous people, I just think of them as my friends icon_smile.gif Famous is not the word that comes to mindicon_smile.gif When you speak to them on a personal level, cake is set aside icon_smile.gif

Scary.......I feel like I am going to vomit every year at awards!

All you can do is go in and do your best! Embrace everything there is to learn and grow with it! I look back at my first years and they make me smile! This by far is the largest show I compete at.

well, I think we have decided to go this weekend. i am so looking forward to it. I have always wanted to enter something in a competition but have always been really nervous and intimidated. So I thought I would see for myself how it all works and maybe next year I can work up enough nerve to enter in to something.

I went to college at Oklahoma State University. If I were still there, I'd definitely be there. Great state icon_smile.gif

There are venders set up there as well. You can end up spending lots of money if you want. It is nice to just visit with people and enjoy the demos.

I'll be over in Branson at that time. I've never been but sure would love to go sometime. Maybe next year I can manage it. Be nice to have someone to drive down with. I have relatives in OK but think they're in Ok City. Darn!! I'll be checking for pics later on. Have fun those of you who get to go. And how do you live close but NOT go??

I am trying to see if I can get away to go myself. I am trying to ride down with a young lady from my fondant/gumpaste class. I would love to go and look around. I would be the kid in the candy store, so I will have to keep extra $$ at home if I do. I am hoping that we have nothing going on so that I can get away with her. If I make it I hope to see some of yall there!!!! Keep ya posted!

Yep. But just in the beginners category. I am dropping off the cake on Saturday morning and then spending the entire day with my kids watching the demonstrations.

I went last year for the first time which was awesome! I'm entering this year, for my first competition ever and I just feel sick. icon_cry.gif My cakes are not going the way I want them to and I'm really pushing my skill set. I have no expectations on winning anything but I'm just trying to do the best I can. At least I can say I've tried. icon_wink.gif I will definitely be watching demonstrations and buying stuff at the booths. I'm gray-headed and will be wearing a black and purple top so if you see me, say Hi! I'm looking forward meeting people! icon_lol.gificon_biggrin.gif
