I was thinking of making a cake for a friend who loves chocolate having a layer of chocolate cake on top of a layer of chocolate brownie all surrounded by chocolate buttercream.

Has anyone mixed cake with brownies? Is this a good idea or just plain weird/gross?

sounds awesome to me!!! I've seen where people have baked up crustless cheesecakes and used them in the center of cakes...almost like a filling........don't see how having a layer of brownie in there could be bad?? LoL
