I went to Hobby Lobby and the widest ribbon they had was 7/8" My cake will be 2" double layered with filling and well thick icing, they will be at least 4" tall. It seems to me that the ribbon needs to be wider, I was thinking 1 1/2" wide. Is this too wide?
This will be a 4 tier all square wedding cake.

Most of mine are 3/4" to 1" .... and if a bride brings me a 1", that's considered pretty wide. It all depends on what look you want ... it doesn't "have" to be proportional.

This page shows pictures with ribbon of several widths... one even looks like a 3 inch! I thought they might be helpful!
