I tried this recipe yesterday and the cupcakes turned out dry and not very flavorful at all.....very bland. Has anyone tried this one with better results? I usually do all of my baking from scratch, but I haven't found a vanilla recipe that I really like yet. I wonder if I don't like it because the fat-source in the batter was butter. I think I usually like the texture of cake recipes with oil a bit better. Anyway, does anyone have any comments or suggestions?
Thanks, Heather

I tried that recipe and thought it was really gross.

Personally, I like the taste and texture of a butter cake rather than an oil cake. Oil cakes (mmm... sounds really appetizing.... NOT) have a greasy mouth feel and I can't taste the oil. Butter is better.

Use a real vanilla bean and the flavor will shine.

Really gross.............lol. Yeah, I am pretty disappointed, as I like several of their recipes and expected more. Oh well, I will have to search out a better vanilla recipe.
