Hi all. I am doing a mickey mouse cake for a little boy who is allergic to dairy and egg. I've got the cake recipe but am concerned about the buttercream. Is the butter flavoring just flavor, no dairy?? Also, what to do about the meringue powder? Isn't meringue powder dried egg whites?

Thanks for anyone that can help me.

You do not need to use meringue powder at all. You can use all Crisco. You can increase the vanilla flavoring instead of using butter.

All my "buttercream" is dairy free.... I use half Fleischmann's margarine and half Crisco. Also Wilton's butter flavour has no dairy in it... but read it first.

Meringue powder is egg whites.

Cheers,
ally
